Hartford HealthCare and OnMed Unveil Nation’s First OnMed CareStation at Bradley International Airport, Providing an Innovative Healthcare Solution for Travelers and Airport Staff

Tuesday, June 24, 2025
Hartford HealthCare has partnered with OnMed to launch the nation’s first OnMed CareStation at Terminal A of Bradley International Airport, offering a new and innovative healthcare option for travelers and airport staff alike. With tens of thousands of passengers passing through Bradley International Airport each day, the OnMed CareStation provides a convenient, private, and seamless healthcare experience—all without the need to leave the terminal.
“At Hartford HealthCare, we are committed to using every resource possible to bring high-quality healthcare to all our communities,” said Jeffrey A. Flaks, President and Chief Executive Officer. “This new OnMed location at Bradley International Airport demonstrates how we’re expanding access in innovative ways — from grocery stores to downtown Hartford to the places people travel. We are proud to support the travelers who pass through Bradley every day and, more importantly, to stand alongside the people of Connecticut by making high quality care more convenient, more connected, and more accessible than ever before.”
The CareStation is designed to meet the needs of busy travelers and airport employees, offering a fast and efficient medical consultation process. It is equipped with state-of-the-art health technology, including high-definition cameras and real-time diagnostic tools. These allow patients to connect with licensed healthcare providers virtually, who can evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe treatment all within minutes. This no-wait, no-appointment model is a game-changer for travelers who may not have time to visit a traditional healthcare facility before their flight. Additionally, prescriptions and referrals for follow-up care are provided on the spot, ensuring that patients leave with all the necessary information to manage their health concerns.
Bradley International Airport is more than a travel hub, it’s now a doorway to immediate, high-quality care,” said Karthik Ganesh, CEO of OnMed. “Whether a traveler or an airport employee finishing a shift, everyone deserves timely access to healthcare. This OnMed CareStation is our commitment to meeting people where life happens.”
The CareStation is available seven days a week with extended hours, providing convenient access to healthcare for both travelers and airport personnel, including flight crews. Its flexible operating hours make it an invaluable resource for anyone at the airport, ensuring care is accessible whenever needed.
“Congratulations to Hartford HealthCare on their innovative efforts to revolutionize healthcare,” said Michael W. Shea, Executive Director of the Connecticut Airport Authority. “We are pleased to introduce their renowned brand and virtual care to millions of passengers at Bradley International Airport.”
How It Works
The OnMed CareStation streamlines the healthcare process by connecting patients to licensed providers through high-definition video consultations. Upon entering the station, a certified nursing assistant or medical assistant begins the intake process by verifying the patient’s identification and insurance details. They will also gather essential vital signs, such as temperature, weight, blood oxygen levels, and blood pressure, ensuring that the patient’s health data is up to date before the consultation begins. Once the intake process is complete, the patient is connected to a clinician for a secure, one-on-one virtual visit.
Using advanced medical technology such as thermal imaging cameras and medical-grade diagnostic tools, OnMed providers can accurately diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions. These services cover up to 85% of health concerns typically seen in a primary care setting, including:
- Respiratory illnesses
- Infections
- Headaches
- Allergies
- Heartburn
For conditions that require further care or follow-up, patients can receive e-prescriptions for medications or referrals to other healthcare providers. All medical consultations and information are securely documented in MyChart, making it easy for patients to coordinate their care with other providers if needed.
Key Features of the CareStation
The OnMed CareStation boasts a range of advanced features designed to prioritize patient privacy and convenience, ensuring each visit is seamless and secure:
- Privacy-Enhancing Design: The CareStation is fitted with fogging and locking doors to ensure patient privacy during consultations.
- No-Appointment Access: Patients can access the CareStation without the need for an appointment, making it perfect for travelers with tight schedules.
- Extended Hours: The CareStation is available seven days a week, with extended hours to accommodate both daytime and evening travelers.
- Bilingual Support: The CareStation offers support in multiple languages, with more language options to be added soon, further increasing its accessibility for international travelers.
Expanding Access to Convenient Care
OnMed is just one of many convenient care options offered by Hartford HealthCare, which strives to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible to everyone, no matter where they are. In addition to the OnMed CareStation at Bradley International Airport, Hartford HealthCare offers several other convenient care options, including:
- GoHealth Urgent Care
- Hartford HealthCare Medical Group walk-ins
- One Medical
- HHC at Walgreens
- Care Now at Hartford Hospital
- HHC 24/7 app
The CareStation at Bradley International Airport marks the third OnMed location in Connecticut, complementing existing stations at Stop & Shop in Killingly Commons and The Village in downtown Hartford. Collectively, these stations currently serve close to 100 patients each month, a number expected to rise significantly due to the high traffic of passengers and staff at the airport. As Hartford HealthCare continues to expand its network of convenient care options, it is making healthcare more accessible and efficient, ensuring that individuals receive the care they need, no matter their location.
