Telemynd Integrates CharmHealth With Salesforce to Deliver Innovative Care

Healthcare IT Today, sat down with Roger Murray, Vice President of Product & Marketing at Telemynd and Venky Chellappa, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at CharmHealth to learn more about their collaboration. We spoke to them at the 2024 CharmHealth user conference – Charmalot2024.

A Collaboration Born Out of the COVID-19 Pandemic
Murray explained that the partnership with CharmHealth began as a response to the COVID-19 lockdowns. Telemynd needed a way to continue providing mental health services while patients were stuck at home. CharmHealth’s technology helped Telemynd expand its telehealth services, allowing the practice to scale up its operations and serve thousands of patients across the U.S.
“We were figuring it [telehealth] out together,” said Murray.
“We put an entire team on it,” added Chellappa.
Telemynd now delivers 60,000+ hours of care annually to military patients wherever they happen to live or are stationed. Telemynd also delivers a significant number of hours to the non-military population.
Tight Integration Between CharmHealth and Salesforce
According to Chellappa, CharmHealth’s EHR platform was always built to be flexible and adaptable. Even from the early days of the company, they knew that their EHR would have to one day integrate with other systems. So, they designed their platform with that in mind.
That approach paid off when Telemynd approached them with a request to tightly integrate with Salesforce.
“Salesforce helps us maintain a positive user experience for patients and providers,” said Murray. “But we wanted to continue using our CharmHealth EHR. We worked to make all the interfaces between the two systems bidirectional so that patients and staff have a seamless experience. We wanted it to feel like a single environment.”
All charting, notes and RCM activities happen in CharmHealth’s EHR. All patient communications, engagement, post-visit follow-up, and even outcomes reporting happens in Salesforce.
The tight integration was made possible because the CharmHealth team worked to build and enable the necessary APIs to make everything seamless.
“We made a commitment to Roger and his team to support them,” said Chellappa. “Because at the end of the day, when they are successful, we are going to be successful.”
Partnership Has Helped Both Organizations Grow
The collaboration between Telemynd and CharmHealth has gone beyond addressing the integration with Salesforce. Many of the solutions developed for Telemynd have been incorporated into CharmHealth’s overall product offerings. While the API functionality remains proprietary to Telemynd, the enhancements made for their specific use cases have informed the broader development of CharmHealth’s EHR platform.
“The same engineering team at CharmHealth has been working with Telemynd over the years,” added Murray. “They understand our business. I don’t know many organizations that would be a true partner like that. I can say that the receptiveness to develop and grow together has been invaluable for us.”
Through the dedication of their staff and the integration between CharmHealth and Salesforce, Telemynd has grown rapidly. They are a shining example of how mental health services can be delivered effectively at scale.
