Charlotte Baker Obituary (09/07/1999 – 12/25/2025) – Vestavia Hills, AL
John 16:22 “Therefore, you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice.”
Charlotte Christine Baker passed away on December 25, 2025, in Birmingham, AL, surrounded by her family. Charlotte was born in Lumberton, North Carolina on September 7, 1999, moving with her family to Vestavia Hills, Alabama in 2005. She attended Vestavia Hills school system, then proceeded to graduate with honors from Auburn University with a degree in Human Development and Family Science (Concentration Child Life). During her childhood years she enjoyed dance, Girl Scouts, and Tae Kwon Do (earning a black belt), and working with Relay for Life and RISE in High School. In usual Charlotte fashion, she made lifelong friends along the way.
While at Auburn she became a Tiger through and through. She was active in Tri Sigma Sorority, served as a Pi Chi during recruitment, and participated in the Oaks Retreat. She loved attending gymnastics meets and football games with her friends, and basketball games with her Dad. She still made time to volunteer with one of her favorite organizations, Smile-A-Mile, when she was back in Birmingham. Her brain cancer diagnosis as a Junior in high school fueled a passion for pursuing a career where she could help children experiencing medical challenges. Following graduation, Charlotte worked at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as a Certified Child Life Specialist providing emotional support to hospitalized children and families on their healing journey. Throughout her years her faith was a cornerstone. She easily shared her love for the Lord, being active in churches in Vestavia Hills, Auburn, and Atlanta; but also witnessing through her life. She enjoyed travel, reading, needlepoint, exercise classes, walking the Beltline, and playing cards with her grandmother. She would never turn down a chance to be with her friends, enjoying a trip to a coffee shop or grabbing a Hugo Spritz. Their laughter filled the room as they shared a funny Tik-Tok or watched Dancing with the Stars. Charlotte had an infectious sense of humor.
While all family was important, none was more important that her sister Zoe, who she adored with a fierceness only reserved for older sisters. Together they shared laughter, family adventures, teenage dilemmas, and adult transitions. If you knew Charlotte, you know that there aren’t the right or enough words to express her love, compassion, joy, and amazing character. She loved all and your life was better because she was in it. Words cannot express how deeply she is missed by everyone whose life she touched.
She is preceded in death by her cherished grandparents Eugene and Ann Pearson, and her aunt, Sara Baker, who died in childhood.
She is survived by her parents, Mark and Lisa Baker, sister Zoe (Wesley) Parker, grandparents Richard and Maryhelen Baker, uncles Ryan (Donna) Baker, Eugene “Chip” (Vera Mae) Pearson, John (Sandy) Pearson, aunt Beth (John) Bangert, and many cherished cousins.
